AJR79,1,65 Whereas, first responders include all professional and volunteer police, fire,
6and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel; and
AJR79,1,87 Whereas, first responders risk their safety on a daily basis to protect the public
8from threats and emergency situations and provide lifesaving services; and
AJR79,1,109 Whereas, first responders stand ready to serve and protect the public 24 hours
10per day; and
AJR79,1,1311 Whereas, there are approximately 4.6 million first responders in the United
12States serving in disciplines such as law enforcement, emergency management,
13emergency medical services, fire and rescue, and public works; and

1Whereas, in Wisconsin, there are over 4,728 career fire fighters, 21,000
2volunteer fire fighters, 14,450 law enforcement officers, and 17,426 career and
3volunteer EMS personnel; and

5nation, state, and communities and deserve to be honored and recognized for their
6commitment to providing safety and lifesaving services; now, therefore, be it

8Legislature recognizes October 17, 2023, as First Responders Appreciation Day.
