AJR56,1,1 1Relating to: proclaiming June 2023 as Dairy Month in Wisconsin.
AJR56,1,42 Whereas, since 1937, the observation of Dairy Month in June has given
3Wisconsinites an opportunity to recognize the special role dairy has played in the
4state's agricultural heritage; and
AJR56,1,75 Whereas, as early as the 1840s, dairy farmers from New York, then the nation's

14prices; and
AJR56,2,2
1Whereas, by the onset of World War I, Wisconsin surpassed all other states in
2dairy production; and
AJR56,2,43 Whereas, starting in 1940, Wisconsin cemented its reputation as “America's
4Dairyland” by placing this slogan on license plates; and
AJR56,2,65 Whereas, today, over 1.28 million cows across nearly 6,000 dairy farms call
6Wisconsin home; and
AJR56,2,87 Whereas, the dairy industry contributes about $45.6 billion to the state
8economy annually; and
AJR56,2,109 Whereas, as a key part of this industry, Wisconsin cheesemakers produce over
10600 kinds of cheese and together produce over a quarter of the nation's cheese; and
AJR56,2,1311 Whereas, because it has touched so many Wisconsinites' lives, past and
12present, the dairy industry comprises a central component of Wisconsin heritage and
13identity; and
AJR56,2,1614 Whereas, in the month of June, the people of Wisconsin acknowledge the
15contributions of the state's hard-working dairy farmers, who have made dairy a
16pillar of the state's success; and
AJR56,2,1817 Whereas, these dairy farmers' unwavering dedication to the highest standards
18of quality have consistently moved Wisconsin forward; now, therefore, be it
