AJR54,1,53 Whereas, Representative Daniel Roy LeMahieu, a dedicated public servant,
4proud veteran, community and business leader, and loving husband, father, and
5grandfather passed away on February 18, 2022; and
AJR54,1,76 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was born to Lewis and Lenore on November 5,
71946, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and
AJR54,1,98 Whereas, he graduated from Oostburg High School in 1964 and went on to
9attend the UW-Sheboygan and UW-Milwaukee; and
AJR54,1,1110 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 before
11working in advertising at News Graphic for over ten years; and
AJR54,1,1312 Whereas, he went on to purchase the Lakeshore Weekly and was the owner and
13publisher of the weekly for 23 years; and
AJR54,1,1514 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu served as a Sheboygan County Board Supervisor
15from 1988 until 2002, twice being elected chairman; and

1Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2002
2and proudly represented the people of the 59th Assembly District for 12 years; and
AJR54,2,63 Whereas, during his time in the assembly, he served as vice-chair of the
4powerful Joint Committee on Finance and also served as co-chair of the Joint
5Committee for Review of Administrative Rules and chair of the Assembly Committee
6on Urban and Local Affairs; and
AJR54,2,97 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was a lifelong member of Bethel Orthodox
8Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder, Sunday School superintendent, sang
9in choir, and was active in Men's Life; and
AJR54,2,1210 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu was also active in the Oostburg Business
11Association and the Oostburg Kiwanis Club and, during retirement, served on the
12board of Anchor of Hope and the regional board of Thrivent; and
AJR54,2,1413 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu will be remembered for his unwavering dedication
14to his community and the state of Wisconsin; and
AJR54,2,1615 Whereas, Daniel LeMahieu's legacy in the Wisconsin Legislature lives on
16through his son, Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu; now, therefore, be it
AJR54,2,20 17Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
18Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of
19Representative Daniel LeMahieu and extend their condolences to his family and
20friends; and, be it further
AJR54,2,22 21Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
22to Rosemary, Daniel LeMahieu's wife of 54 years.
