AJR42,1,32 Whereas, Representative Sheryl Albers, a dedicated public servant and loving
3wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on May 28, 2022 at the age of 67; and
AJR42,1,54 Whereas, Sheryl Albers was born on September 9, 1954, as the second of eight
5children to Marcus and Norma Gumz, and grew up in Baraboo, Wisconsin; and
AJR42,1,86 Whereas, Sheryl Albers graduated from Baraboo High School and went on to
7attend Carroll University and earned her bachelor's degree in Art from Ripon
8College; and
AJR42,1,119 Whereas, Sheryl Albers was a proud farmer, having grown up on her family's
10farm and returning to work at her family's farm following college growing mint and
11soybeans before becoming a dairy farmer; and
AJR42,1,1412 Whereas, Sheryl Albers was elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 1991 in a
13special election, and served the people of the 50th Assembly District for 18 years until
14she retired in 2009; and

1Whereas, during her time in the assembly, Sheryl Albers served as the chair for
2several committees including the Elections and Constitutional Law Committee and
3the Property Rights and Land Management Committee, and she served as a member
4of the Joint Committee on Finance for several sessions; and
AJR42,2,75 Whereas, Sheryl Albers was a fierce advocate for the agriculture community
6and worked on issues affecting agriculture including property rights, rural economic
7development, and land use and zoning; and
AJR42,2,98 Whereas, while serving as a representative, Sheryl Albers attended the
9University of Wisconsin Law School and earned her J.D. in 2004; and
AJR42,2,1310 Whereas, following her service in the assembly, Sheryl Albers practiced law,
11which included working for the Juneau County District Attorney's Office and the
12Wisconsin Supreme Court in the Office of Lawyer Regulation, and worked in human
13resources at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections; and
AJR42,2,1914 Whereas, Sheryl Albers was recognized for her hard work and contributions to
15the farming community, having served as a member on the Sauk County Farm
16Bureau Board, being named Sauk County's Miss Farm Bureau, recognized as an
17Outstanding Young Farmer, and being a member of several agricultural associations
18including being a founding member of the Sauk County Women in Agriculture-Eagle
19Bluff Chapter; and

21talented seamstress, creating craft gifts, traveling and appreciating art from around
22the world, enjoying the company of friends and hosting dinners, and she earned her
23private pilot's license and owned a Terratorn Ultralight aircraft; and

1Whereas, Sheryl Albers was a loving wife to her husband, Steve, and a mother
2to her son, Joel, and four stepchildren, Kelly, Devon, Megan, and Tyler, and
3grandmother to seven grandchildren; and
AJR42,3,64 Whereas, Representative Sheryl Albers is remembered fondly for her strong
5work ethic, faith, kindness, and service to her state and community; now, therefore,

AJR42,3,9 7Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin Legislature honor the life and public service of Representative Sheryl
9Albers and extend their condolences to her family and friends.
