AB815,1,3 1An Act to create 302.072 of the statutes; relating to: bathing periods for
2inmates of state correctional institutions and county jails or houses of
3correction.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
The bill requires the Department of Corrections or the county sheriff to ensure
that each inmate in a state correctional institution or county jail or house of
correction is provided with a minimum of four bathing periods per week and that
each bathing period includes at least 10 minutes of access to heated running water
and 15 minutes of overall time.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB815,1 4Section 1 . 302.072 of the statutes is created to read:
AB815,2,2 5302.072 Bathing periods for inmates in state correctional institutions
6and county jails or houses of correction.
(1) The department shall ensure that
7each inmate in a state correctional institution is provided with a minimum of 4

1bathing periods per week and that each bathing period includes at least 10 minutes
2of access to heated running water and 15 minutes of overall time.
AB815,2,63 (2) The sheriff shall ensure that each inmate in a county jail or house of
4correction is provided with a minimum of 4 bathing periods per week and that each
5bathing period includes at least 10 minutes of access to heated running water and
615 minutes of overall time.
