AB632,1,2 1An Act to create 29.001 (59) of the statutes; relating to: defining
2muzzle-loading firearm for hunting purposes.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill defines “muzzle-loading firearm,” as that term applies to hunting, to
mean a firearm that shoots a projectile loaded exclusively from the muzzle.
Current law authorizes the use of muzzle-loading firearms for certain hunting
activities but does not define “muzzle-loading firearm.” Administrative rules
promulgated by the Department of Natural Resources provide that, during a hunt
that is restricted to muzzle-loading firearms, no person may use a firearm other than
one with a solid breech plug attached with threads and that is capable of being loaded
only from the muzzle.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

AB632,1,54 29.001 (59) “Muzzle-loading firearm” means a firearm that shoots a projectile

AB632,3 3Section 3. NR 10.09 (1) (d) of the administrative code is amended to read:

5described in s. NR 10.01 (3) (es), with any gun other than a rifle, shotgun, or handgun
6that is a firearm with a solid breech plug attached with threads and capable of being
