This bill requires that a bill referred to committee receive a public hearing no
later than 90 days after its referral if at least one-third of the members of either
house of the legislature have signed on as cosponsors of the bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB598,1 3Section 1. 13.45 (8) of the statutes is created to read:
AB598,2,24 13.45 (8) Public hearings; cosponsors. Any bill referred to a legislative
5committee that has not received a public hearing shall be scheduled for a public
6hearing no later than 90 days after its referral if at least one-third of the members
7of either house of the legislature have signed on as cosponsors of the bill. For a bill

1that is referred to more than one committee, the 90-day period begins on the date
2of the first referral.
