Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill adds a funding priority for the minority health program through which
the Department of Health Services annually awards grants to organizations for
activities to improve the health status of economically disadvantaged minority group
members. Under current law, DHS awards grants of up to $50,000 per year per
applicant and requires that applicants that are not federally qualified health centers
receive priority for grants. This bill requires that applicants providing maternal and
child health services also receive priority for these grants.
