2023 - 2024 LEGISLATURE
March 22, 2024 - Introduced by Representative Shankland, cosponsored by
Senator Testin. Referred to Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
AB1166,1,3 1An Act to create 256.08 (4) (hm) of the statutes; relating to: notification of
2administrative action against the training permit, certificate, or license of an
3emergency medical responder or emergency medical services practitioner.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Health Services to notify every service
with which an individual has a local credentialing agreement if DHS takes
administrative action against that individual's training permit, license, or
certificate.
Under current law, an individual must have an appropriate training permit,
license, or certificate to act as an emergency medical responder or emergency medical
services practitioner. In addition, in order for an emergency medical responder or
emergency medical services practitioner to provide emergency medical care for an
emergency medical services provider, that individual must be credentialed with that
emergency medical services provider through a local credentialing agreement
approved by the provider's service director and medical director. An individual may
have local credentialing agreements with one or more emergency medical services
providers. If DHS takes administrative action against an individual's training
permit, license, or certificate, the bill requires DHS to notify the medical director or

service director for every service with which the individual has a local credentialing
agreement of the administrative action taken as soon as possible.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB1166,1 1Section 1. 256.08 (4) (hm) of the statutes is created to read:
AB1166,2,72 256.08 (4) (hm) If the department takes administrative action against an
3individual's training permit, license, or certificate allowing the person to act as an
4emergency medical services practitioner or emergency medical responder in this
5state, notify, as soon as possible, the medical director or service director for every
6service with which the individual has a local credentialing agreement of the action
7that has been taken against the individual's training permit, certificate, or license.
