SJR31,1,1 1Relating to: proclaiming May 2019 as World Trade Month.
SJR31,1,42 Whereas, the month of May is World Trade Month, and Wisconsin is a key
3contributor of the United States' international trade, providing over $22 billion in
4exports; and
SJR31,1,85 Whereas, Wisconsin exports to countries all over the world, but the two
6countries with the most developed trading relationships with Wisconsin are Canada
7and Mexico, with Canada receiving almost $7 billion in exports in 2017, and Mexico
8receiving more than $3 billion; and
SJR31,1,129 Whereas, it is especially important to have a solid trade relationship with
10Mexico and Canada, and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement would
11strengthen these relationships, and expand opportunities for Wisconsin exporters;
12and
SJR31,2,213 Whereas, many of Wisconsin's top exports are made by our highly skilled
14manufacturing industry, including industrial machinery, electrical machinery,
15medical and scientific instruments, vehicles and parts, and plastic products. These

1exports are products of manufacturing, which employs more than 16 percent of the
2Wisconsin workforce; and
SJR31,2,53 Whereas, Wisconsin's farmers and food processors produce vital exports
4including dairy products, grains, fruits, and vegetables. Agriculture and food
5processing provide 11.9 percent of jobs in Wisconsin's economy; and
SJR31,2,86 Whereas, Wisconsin's workers create high quality products for export across all
7industries. Their exports help to demonstrate Wisconsin's values, such as hard work
8and conscientiousness; now, therefore, be it
SJR31,2,11 9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
10Wisconsin Legislature, in recognition of the importance of international trade,
11hereby proclaim May 2019 as World Trade Month in Wisconsin.
