SB783,1,2 1An Act to repeal and recreate 281.17 (8) (b) of the statutes; relating to:
2disinfection of drinking water supplied by a municipal water system.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits the Department of Natural Resources from requiring a
municipal water system to provide continuous disinfection of the water that it
supplies unless federal law requires continuous disinfection or unless water quality
data, well construction, or water system construction indicates a potential health
hazard.
This bill requires a municipal water system to provide continuous disinfection
of the water that it provides.

an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB783,1 3Section 1. 281.17 (8) (b) of the statutes is repealed and recreated to read:
SB783,1,54 281.17 (8) (b) A municipal water system shall provide continuous disinfection
5of the water that it provides.
