AR11,1,1 1Relating to: proclaiming October 10, 2019, as World Homeless Day.
AR11,1,52 Whereas, World Homeless Day was first observed on October 10, 2010, as the
3result of homeless service providers from around the world calling attention to
4homelessness as a worldwide challenge and continues to be observed annually on
5October 10; and
AR11,1,86 Whereas, since its creation, World Homeless Day has been observed in dozens
7of countries on six continents and is recognized as a day of critical importance by
8citizens, public figures, and government officials from around the world; and
AR11,1,119 Whereas, the purpose of World Homeless Day is to help spread awareness about
10the challenges that homeless individuals living in our state and nation, and around
11the world face every day; and
AR11,1,1412 Whereas, homelessness impacts millions of people worldwide, including
13thousands of people of all ages who are living in communities of various sizes
14throughout Wisconsin; and
AR11,2,3
1Whereas, World Homeless Day invites Wisconsinites to learn more about the
2impact of homelessness worldwide, to find opportunities to get involved, and support
3homeless people living in their communities; and
AR11,2,74 Whereas, the Wisconsin State Assembly is committed to helping unsheltered
5individuals and families, as demonstrated this session by the approval of several
6pieces of legislation aimed at reducing and preventing homelessness across the state;
7and
AR11,2,118 Whereas, educating people about homelessness, volunteering to help those that
9are experiencing homelessness, celebrating the positive efforts of local providers,
10and highlighting those who are making a difference will help fortify the fight to end
11homelessness; and
AR11,2,1512 Whereas, the Wisconsin State Assembly has an opportunity to join an
13international effort to promote awareness of homelessness and support the critical
14work many partners across the state are doing to combat homelessness; now,
15therefore, be it
AR11,2,17 16Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin State Assembly proclaims
17October 10, 2019, as World Homeless Day in Wisconsin.
