NOTICE OF HEARING
The Department of Natural Resources announces that it will hold a public hearing on a permanent rules to revise Chapter NR 45 which is the principle rule governing the conduct of visitors to the properties and facilities owned, acquired by easement, or leased by the department and to revise NR 51, Administration of the Stewardship grant program.

Rule Information
This rule will revise a number of provisions in ch. NR 45. Revisions include updating certain fees, modifying the department’s closure authority to allow for closure for one or more activities, establishing uniform regulations for DNR shooting ranges, establishing a rule and processes for obtaining and charging fees for special use permit authorizations, and a revision to the provision which allows ATVs on department roads that are open to motor vehicles. Revisions are also included related to camping, to address specific property issues, in response to statutory changes, or to add clarity. The information in this notice is not comprehensive. This rule package also updates the language regarding the purpose of the state trails system, defines state water trails and adds the Lake Michigan water trail to the list of state trails. These revisions are within NR 51.
