AB311,1,2 1An Act to create 256.15 (4m) of the statutes; relating to: upgrading service
2levels for ambulances in rural areas.

This bill allows a rural ambulance service provider to upgrade its service level
to the highest level of license of any emergency medical technician staffing that
ambulance if the medical director approves a proposal submitted to him or her by the
rural ambulance service provider. The bill allows a rural ambulance service provider
that upgrades its service to advertise only for the level of service the provider is able
to provide 24 hours per day.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB311,1 3Section 1. 256.15 (4m) of the statutes is created to read:
AB311,1,74 256.15 (4m) Upgrade to ambulance service level. (a) In this subsection,
5“rural ambulance service provider” means an ambulance service provider for which
6the population of the largest single municipality, as defined in s. 5.02 (11), in the
7ambulance service provider's service area is less than 10,000.

1(b) An ambulance operated by a rural ambulance service provider that is
2licensed under sub. (5) at any level may upgrade its service level to the highest level
3of license of any emergency medical technician staffing that ambulance if the medical
4director approves a proposal submitted to him or her by the rural ambulance service
5provider.
AB311,2,86 (c) A rural ambulance service provider that upgrades its service under par. (b)
7may advertise only the level of service that the rural ambulance service provider is
8able to provide 24 hours per day.
